What Does Acupuncture Feel Like?
Acupuncturists use hair-thin, sterilized flexible needles that you will hardly feel upon insertion. Needles are gently stimulated and may produce a sensation that Chinese medicine calls de qi. At times, the patient may feel some heaviness, tingling, a slight pinch or a sensation moving up and down the meridian. After the needles are in, patients feel very relaxed; some even fall asleep.
Acupuncture calms the Central Nervous System and creates deep relaxation both mentally and physically.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
The benefits of acupuncture are cumulative, so more than one treatment is recommended. For acute conditions, you can expect to schedule 6-10 treatments, but you will usually begin to feel relief after just a few sessions. Kat Barber Acupuncture offers affordable packages of 3, 5 and 10 treatments to fit individual's budgets and needs. Chronic conditions may take longer to respond, depending on the type, severity, and duration of the condition. Preventative treatments and treatments for general well-being may also be scheduled on an as-needed basis.
