Chinese Herbs
Chinese herbs are often used in conjunction with acupuncture for added therapeutic effect. Chinese herbal medicine has a long history reaching back several thousand years, and the resulting system is now used to treat everything from the common cold, infertility, digestive issues and anxiety to symptoms associated with cancer.
Kat Barber Acupuncture recommends the highest quality herbal brands that ensure purity, safety and potency by following standards of current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) established by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and World Health Organization (WHO).
Chinese herbs are an integral aspect of Chinese internal medicine. They are often taken on a daily basis in order to prolong the benefits of acupuncture sessions. Most herbs are roots, twigs, seeds and fruits of various plants. In modern practice, the acupuncturist identifies the patient's Chinese medical diagnosis and then chooses the appropriate formula for the condition, with modifications. This allows the acupuncturist to create a customized herbal formula that will address each patient individually. Formulas are often modified or changed based upon the individual’s progress and change of symptoms.
